Philadelphia Eagles Sign AJ Epenesa After Joe Tryon-Shoyinka Retirement

The Philadelphia Eagles have made a significant move in response to the unexpected retirement of outside linebacker Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. On Tuesday, the Eagles placed Tryon-Shoyinka on the reserve/retired list after he signed a one-year contract with the team in March. The 27-year-old former first-round pick, who was drafted No. 32 overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021, ends his career with impressive stats, including 160 tackles and 15 sacks over 82 games. To fill the gap left by Tryon-Shoyinka, the Eagles quickly signed defensive end AJ Epenesa, who previously played for the Buffalo Bills. Epenesa, who has recorded 135 tackles and 24 sacks in his six-year career, brings valuable experience to the Eagles' defense. In 2023, he even scored his first NFL touchdown from an interception return. Additionally, the Eagles have added two players from the UFL: wide receiver Erik Ezukanma and defensive back Shaun Wade. Ezukanma, who had a brief stint with the Miami Dolphins, and Wade, a former fifth-round pick from Ohio State, will look to make an impact as the Eagles prepare for the upcoming season.
