Philadelphia Eagles Face Sting of A.J. Brown Trade

The Philadelphia Eagles traded A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots on June 1, a move that still stings for Eagles fans.

What happened?

The Eagles received a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick in return for Brown.

A.J. Brown had 1,003 yards last season, and his best year was 2022, when he recorded 1,496 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Why it matters for Philadelphia Eagles

NFL.com analyst Bucky Brooks shared a long-shot prediction that Brown could win the NFL Offensive Player of the Year Award in his first year with the Patriots.

This would be a wildly productive season for Brown, whose best seasons have come with the Eagles.

The Eagles are currently 12th in the American Football Conference with a 6-11 record, on a L6 streak.

What comes next?

The Eagles' next game is against the Washington Commanders on September 13, 2026.

And the team will look to bounce back from their current losing streak.

But the prediction from Brooks might be the most egregious of all the optimism for Brown as he leaves the Eagles for the Patriots.

The Eagles and Brown weren’t going to stick together, not after the falling out between the two sides.

So the Eagles will have to move on without their All-Pro WR.

The Eagles' QB Jalen Hurts will have to find new targets for the upcoming season.

And the team's offense will have to adjust to the loss of Brown.

But if Brown did win the Offensive Player of the Year award, it would only add fuel to the fire of Eagles and Hurts haters.

The Eagles will look to prove themselves in the upcoming season, starting with their game against the Washington Commanders.
