The Philadelphia Eagles may be impacted by a potential trade involving former star Josh Sweat.
A 3-team trade pitch between the Arizona Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and Carolina Panthers could send Sweat to the Bears.
The Cardinals would receive the Bears' 2027 4th-round pick and the Panthers' 2027 4th-round pick in the proposed trade.
And the Panthers would get Bears tight end Cole Kmet.
Sweat left the Eagles for a 4-year, $76.4 million free-agent contract with the Cardinals in 2025.
But now, he's reportedly unhappy in Arizona after the team went 3-14 in 2025.
The Cardinals' head coach, Jonathan Gannon, who brought Sweat to Arizona, was fired in January.
The Eagles are currently 12th in the American Football Conference with a 6-11 record, on a 6-game losing streak.
Their next game is against the Washington Commanders on September 13, 2026.
The Eagles never should have let Sweat walk out the door, given his performance in 2025, with a career-high 12 sacks.
Sweat's ability to dominate an opposing team's offensive line could entice almost every NFL team with a need at edge rusher.
Sweat's discontent in Arizona could be tied to the fact that he has no guaranteed money beyond 2026 in his contract.
A pay raise could smooth things over with the premier pass-rusher, but it's unclear what the future holds for Sweat.
The Philadelphia Eagles will likely be watching the situation closely, given their own needs on defense.
